Dogs consider their family as their pack and would never abandon them. People need to regard dogs as members of the family and not as disposable objects when life changes. Rocco, a 3-year-old German Shepherd, was left at a shelter by his family because they discovered that they were expecting a baby.
Rocco was cowering and trembling in the back of a kennel at Dallas Animal Services. His family deserted him there, and he had no idea why. His sorrowful gaze looked up at anyone who passed by, as if questioning, “Why am I here?” A shelter can be quite stressful for a dog, with all the unfamiliar scents, sounds, and people.

A lady who went to the shelter noticed Rocco shaking with fear, so she recorded a video and shared it online in the hopes of finding a rescue group to adopt the kind dog. Preethi Pillaipakkam, a foster through DFW German Shepherd Rescue, saw the video and immediately went to the shelter to rescue Rocco.
Pillaipakkam stated, “The shelter is certainly not the environment for a dog like Rocco. He was very timid and scared to get into the car. He even hid beneath the seat in the car. He was pacing a bit and seemed very stressed.”

Rocco’s weight was below average, only 60 pounds. Pillaipakkam brought Rocco to her home so that he could relax and be more comfortable. Initially, Rocco was very shy and unsure of his surroundings. Gradually, with the assistance of another German Shepherd in the household, Rocco began playing with toys.

After Rocco’s shelter video went viral, numerous applications were submitted for his adoption. Fortunately, a woman was selected to be Rocco’s new owner, and he will spend his time playing with another dog and snuggling with his new family. Rocco’s new mom has taken over his Instagram page, so keep following it for updates on Rocco.
