Singer Connie Francis is hospitalized. Details revealed…
Connie Francis was hospitalized in Florida on Wednesday, July 2, according to the iconic singer’s Facebook page.
According to radio personality Cousin Brucie’s Facebook page, the 87-year-old “Pretty Little Baby” singer was hospitalized early Wednesday morning.
Hours later, Francis said that she was “back in the hospital” and “undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain” she had been experiencing. The singer earlier told PEOPLE that a hip ailment had briefly confined her to a wheelchair, although it is unknown what triggered her hospitalization.
“I had hoped to participate in Brucie’s show for Independence Day, but I had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago while receiving hip treatment,” she said, referring to Cousin Brucie’s earlier Facebook statement. “Unfortunately, I had to inform him that I would have to withdraw again. Thank you for your many get-well-soon messages. I will try to keep you updated.” Love, Connie.”
Francis subsequently revealed that following a series of tests and examinations, she was relocated from the Intensive Care Unit to a private room. “I want to thank everyone for their warm thoughts, words, and prayers. They mean a lot! “Love, Connie,” she ended her post.
When asked for more information, Francis’ spokesman linked PEOPLE to her Facebook posts.
The singer’s music has just gained traction with a new generation, owing to her song “Pretty Little Baby” being popular on TikTok 63 years after she recorded it.
Over 3 million TikTok users have lip-synced to the 1962 song’s upbeat lyrics while flaunting their children, pets, or fashion sense. As of early June, it has over 10 billion views, propelling it to the top of TikTok’s Viral 50 and Top 50 lists.
In May, she admitted to PEOPLE that she didn’t even remember the song. “I needed to listen to it to recall. Incredibly, a song I recorded 63 years ago is still touching the emotions of millions of people. It’s a fantastic sensation.”
“It’s an honor,” Francis added. “To see that they’re paying homage to me is just breathtaking.”
Francis, whose previous successes include “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool,” and “Who’s Sorry Now,” is shocked by the song’s popularity. However, Francis hypothesized that the song’s popularity stems from its innocence and purity, particularly in this chaotic time.
Francis departed from the music industry in 2018 and has since relocated to South Florida. However, the TikTok surge gave her and her iconic career an unexpected boost.
“It is simply wonderful. I never imagined that was feasible.” It’s a dream come true,” she explained. “To think that kindergarten students now recognize my name and music?” It’s thrilling!”
