Donald Trump gives an urgent warning to millions as a big tsunami is due to hit

President Donald Trump has urged Americans to remain strong and stay safe’ following one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded, which caused a tsunami.

The 79-year-old US commander-in-chief issued a warning to Americans in Hawaii, Alaska, and along the Pacific Coast before the first waves struck the shores.

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck Russia’s Far East around 11:25 a.m. local time on Wednesday (30 July), causing severe flooding and injuring numerous persons.

Following the jolt, those across the Pacific were told to begin preparing for a tsunami, which might be the world’s sixth-largest earthquake ever recorded.

According to local governor Valery Limarenko, a rush of water initially approached the coastal region of Severo-Kurilsk, the biggest community on Russia’s Kuril Islands in the Pacific.

Residents ran to higher ground until the fear of a repeat wave subsided. According to reports, waves up to four meters high were reported in the far east of Vladimir Putin’s nation.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center then issued an urgent warning to individuals in additional coastal locations.

People in Japan, the Philippines, Chile, and areas of the United States, including Hawaii, California, and Alaska, were encouraged to evacuate after scientists warned that waves one to three meters above tide level might strike.

“Urgent action should be taken to protect lives and property,” the warning read.

Amid the hysteria sweeping countries throughout the world, Donald Trump resorted to Truth Social to give his own message to Americans living in hazardous zones.

“Due to a massive earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, a tsunami warning is in effect for those living in Hawaii,” the president posted on his social media account.

“A tsunami watch is in place for Alaska and the Pacific Coast of the United States. Japan is also in the way. Please check tsunami.gov for the most up-to-date information.” Stay strong and safe!”

Since he published the image a few hours ago, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has reported that waves have begun to impact Hawaii.

According to statistics from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the largest wave measured thus far was over 5 ft (1.52 meters) tall and occurred near Kahulu, on Maui’s north-central shore.

According to the BBC, a 4 ft (1.21 meter) tsunami crashed onto Hale’iwa in Waialua Bay.

Hawaii’s governor, Josh Green, had informed islanders that a 6 ft (1.8 m) tsunami was on its way after passing through the Midway Atoll island, which lies between Japan and Hawaii.

“We’re still expecting a significant wave,” he added, adding that precautions would only be lifted after officials were confident there was ‘absolute safety’.

After the initial waves struck the island state this morning, Green stated that there had ‘not been a wave of importance’ thus far, which he characterized as a ‘huge relief.’

However, officials have stated that enormous volumes of water have receded, a sign of an impending tsunami.

“We still have not seen any wave activity come past the Big Island,” the governor stated. “That is crucial. Until we see what happens on the Big Island, we won’t feel comfortable claiming we’re safe.

“Just lay low tonight and watch TV, please,” Green said, urging people to avoid the highways and stay 100 feet above sea level or two miles inland ‘just in case’.

Dave Snider, a tsunami warning coordinator of Alaska’s National Tsunami Warning Center, previously stated that waves less than 30 cm above tide levels were detected in the Alaskan settlements of Amchitka and Adak.

The northern coast of Japan was also hit by 40 cm waves, with a 60 cm tsunami recorded in Hamanaka on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and the Kuji port in Iwate on the main island.

However, authorities cautioned that the worst was still to come, which is why 1.9 million people in the nation have been told to evacuate.

The country’s Meteorological Agency stated that a tsunami could continue to hit in the days following the earthquake.

“Tsunamis are still being observed, and there is a risk of damage from tsunamis,” according to a statement. “Tsunamis can attack unexpectedly. Please do not leave safe areas until the alert has been withdrawn.

“When the tsunami coincides with high tide, there is a possibility that the water level will rise further than it currently is.”

China, the Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand, Peru, and Mexico are among the countries that have issued tsunami warnings and urged citizens to seek refuge.
