Lyn May, the iconic Chinese-Mexican showgirl famously known as the “Goddess of Love,” captured the hearts of audiences throughout her career, starring in nearly 100 films.

She rose to fame in the vibrant world of Mexican cinema, particularly within the Ficheras genre, known for its lively portrayals of Mexico’s pop culture.

Despite her success, Lyn May’s life took a tragic turn after a botched Botox procedure in the 1990s.

Instead of enhancing her beauty, the injections, which she later revealed included substances like water, baby oil, and even cooking oil, left her with deforming bumps on her face. The procedure that was meant to give her a youthful glow became a life-altering event.

Born Lilia Guadalupe Mendiola Mayares in 1952, Lyn faced numerous personal challenges. After a difficult marriage with a U.S. marine, she divorced him due to allegations of abuse. She then moved to Acapulco where her talents as a dancer quickly propelled her to fame.

Lyn’s life continued to be marked by tragedy, including the heartbreaking loss of her second husband, Antonio Chi Su, to cancer in 2008. In her grief, she even admitted to sleeping next to his grave.

In 2021, Lyn shocked the public by announcing a pregnancy at the age of 68, only to later reveal that it was a publicity stunt.
