Player made heartwarming gesture after adult woman was seen engaging in questionable act involving young boy and his father during live TV broadcast
A baseball player intervened with a nice gesture following a fan’s questionable behavior during a game.
On Friday, the Marlins and Phillies faced off at LoanDepot Park, with spectators roaring when Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader blasted a home shot that flew into the seats.
Anyone who has attended a baseball game knows that if a ball hits the stands and someone catches it, they have the right to take it home.
As the ball soared off the field, over a half-dozen supporters attempted to intercept it, with a gray-haired fan nearly making it but fumbling the grab.
As the ball dropped to the ground in the stands, a parent scooped it up and returned to hand it to his ecstatic kid.
But, undaunted, the gray-haired fan marched down to the family and demanded the ball, which the stunned father ultimately took from his son’s glove and handed to her.
The entire contentious episode was recorded on tape, and it immediately became clear that the youngster, named Lincoln, was enjoying his birthday.
Lincoln missed Bader’s ball, but the Phillies made up for it at the end of the game.
Images shared on the team’s social media account show the player visiting Lincoln later and giving him an autographed bat.
The tweet described the player as “going home with a signed bat from Bader.”
The Phillies weren’t the only ones who made a heartfelt attempt to make things right.
A representative from the Marlins may be seen in a different video approaching the dejected kid in the stands.
She handed him a goodie bag containing various items, including a ball for him and his sister, who was seated next to him.
A video circulated on social media shows the representative stating, “We brought you a cool little goodie bag.”
Fans rushed to social media to applaud the teams’ efforts in settling an ugly situation.
One fan wrote, “This is going to turn me into a Phillies (baseball) fan.”
Another person commented, “It is good that the baseball team worked out something to try to make the situation right.”
The fan herself has subsequently been called out for her actions.
One guy remarked, ‘Is she a CEO?’ in reference to the CEO of the firm, the astronomer, who was seen on a kiss-cam at a Coldplay performance, enjoying an embrace with a coworker.
