To get him to his wife after the wedding ceremony, his relatives had to temporarily tear down a wall of his house. 👇
😮 In 2006, Manuel Uribe was entered into the Guinness World Records as the heaviest man in the world, weighing 560 kilograms at the time.
Out of love, he lost 110 kilograms, but still, for him to attend his own wedding, the family had to demolish a wall in his home. 🤭
😲 The most challenging part was getting him to the bride: it required the help of weightlifters, two tow trucks, loading equipment, a flatbed truck, and a full police escort.
It was an unforgettable sight. 😵💫 Photos and videos from the wedding in the first comment 👇
In 2006, Manuel Uribe was officially recognized as the world’s heaviest man, at 560 kilograms.
However, by 2008, things had changed significantly: with a specially designed diet and exercise plan, he managed to lose around 110 kilograms.
His obesity wasn’t caused by overeating but by a rare chronic illness.
He deliberately refused surgery, choosing instead to lose weight naturally, aiming to reach 120 kg.
Thanks to media attention, his story became known around the globe. He had his own website, and several support funds were created for people with different body sizes.
Though bedridden, he maintained a joyful spirit that many healthy people could envy.
He made heroic efforts over the years to reduce his weight – and with visible success.
He had promised to walk to his wedding, but sadly, he couldn’t fulfill that promise – he could still only move around in a specially outfitted canopy bed.
This was his second marriage. His first was in 1987, but it ended shortly afterward.
At that time, he lived in Dallas, worked in printer maintenance, and led a sedentary lifestyle that eventually rendered him immobile.
But neither his weight nor his physical limitations stopped him from finding love again. In 2008, he married Claudia Solís – a charming Mexican woman with whom he shared a sincere and loving relationship.
Interestingly, Claudia was the widow of one of his school friends, who also suffered from obesity and had sadly passed away.
Preparing for the wedding was a logistical challenge: it took weightlifters, two tow trucks, lifting machinery, a truck, and a police escort.
The ceremony was funded by local authorities and sponsors.
He passed away in 2014. At the time of his death, he weighed 394 kilograms.
